A young boy laid in his bed, waiting for his mother to tuck him into bed. His mother walked in with a glass of water for him, putting it on the stand next to his bed. "Mommy can you read my favorite bed time story to me?", the boy said as his mother tucked him in. "Sweety, I read that to you every night, you know it already by heart", she said kissing his forehead. "please mommy", he said innocently, his mother sighing."oh alright", she said pulling a book titled "The Moth, The Owl, and The Bat" from the shelf, the boy eager to listen.

Once upon a time, there was a Moth and an Owl. The Moth was very beautiful and beloved by everyone for her grace and kindness. The Owl was like a guardian to the people, his wisdom and commanding yet peaceful voice gave comfort to them. However the Moth didn't feel this way about him, feeling uneasy around him, his gaze felt like she was prey instead of ally. One night, the Moth took a stroll by herself in the woods, unknown to her, the Owl flew above, descending towards her. The Moth heard a screech, turning around before being attacked by the owl. The Moth plead for him to stop, calling out for help. Before the Owl began his feast, a loud high pitched screech came from behind the Owl. Before the owl could react, a bat attack him, blinding his right eye, causing him to leave. The Moth thanked the Bat, seeing him up close. His eyes were piercing red but with a sense of peace behind him. His wings, folded like a cloak onto him. As the bat left, the moth followed. The bat would feel her presence everywhere he went, but paid no mind. After awhile he had to ask, "Dear Moth", he said with a calm voice, "why follow what others fear?", the towns people feared him, his sight stroke fear into others. "Why should one fear that which has no meant to not to?", she said in a generous voice. The Bat, confused by her words, carried on. The moth still followed him everywhere, calming people who passed them by. After months of following him everyday to different places, they began to open up, speaking their minds. It became clear that the Moth and the Bat became closer to each other as the days went on. They began to call each other by new names they had given each other.

One day, they walked together in a forest near the town,"Moonlight?", said the moth, holding him close, "Yes Sunlight?", the bat responded, looking towards her. "May one day, we too act like humans?", she said curiously. Confused, the bat lifted a brow, "By that you mean?", he said, Sun nuzzling into his arm, "have homes like them, have friends like them......families like them". The bats eyes opened up, "families like them?" he said, his face became a redish tint. "yes....like...little ones", she said her face color matching his. "Well.....", the bat was lose for words, "is that what you truly wish for, dear Sunlight"? she nodded, "..yes I truly do", she said smiling at him. He looked for words to say, but the sound of a screech interrupted his train of thought. The Owl descended infront of them, "So it seems the beast has found a beauty?", Owl said anger flowing through him. "What brings you here Owl?", Moonlight said, protecting Sunlight. The Owl charged at Moonlight, tackling him to the ground, their claws meeting as the fought the other off. Sunlight tried to help remove Owl from her Moonlight. Owl struck at her, wounding her. "I shall do with my food after I am done taking back that which I......", Owl was stopped as Moonlight pushed him away, striking him down. "You dare hurt my Sunlight", Moonlight said as he stood above the Owl, "then shall I hurt which you love?", he said, his claws digging into his wings. "I would, and would do it again, just for the feel of her skin against my teeth". Angered, Moonlight took his wings from him, leaving him to there to feel his punishment. Moonlight went over to Sunlight, "My Sun, are you ok?", he said as she nodded, "I am fine my Moon". Moonlight had carried his Sunlight off into the distance, living happy together. Some say, they live to this day with a family of their own. The End

The mother finished the book, closing it. Her son was fast asleep, tucked into bed. She smiled as she kissed his forehead, leaving the room. As she entered her bedroom, her husband laying in bed, "Same story again?", he said looking over to her. "You know he loves it, just as much as we did", she said smiling, getting into bed with him. "How long till we say something about it to him?" the husband said as he held her in his arms, "we have until he is 16 before we go back". His wife smiled, "Then we will tell him, and hope he takes it well". The man just smiled, "very well, good night dear". She smiled softly , whispering in his ear
